Who We Are
June Hilton
June Hilton has been recognized for both the depth of her knowledge and her compassion as New York Independent Schools’ longest serving Director of Admissions. Her background is unique among educational consultants as she knows the admissions process from the vantage point of the person responsible for interviewing and selecting students for admission. June has been featured in newspapers, magazines and books and has been a frequent speaker for parents’ groups and corporations. Alexandra Robbins, author of The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids devoted more than a chapter to June’s work as Director of Admissions. She has served as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for one of the City’s top nursery schools, has served on the Advisory Board of a charter school and was a board member of Early Steps and the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York. She was the earliest supporter of the Prep for Prep program and helped find Prep its first home at Trinity School. In April 2003, she was cited by the New York Post as one of “NY’s 50 Most Powerful Women: Gals Who Make Gotham Grand”
Rita Haves
Rita Haves has been involved in Independent Schools for the past 22 years. She has worked with admissions officers at all grade levels. With June, she was instrumental in developing, training and overseeing the first extensive use of parent volunteers dedicated to leading admissions tours and advising applicant families. She was the driving force behind creating a more parent centered school visit. Rita has served as a facilitator and communication liaison between school administrators, faculty and parents. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of a NYC Independent School and works on the development committee of an Ivy League University. She is a past President of the Parents’ Association at both the Nursery and On-Going School levels.
Both June and Rita have extensive ties to and knowledge of many New York City Independent Schools. June has many years of contact and friendship with both Heads of Schools and Directors of Admissions. As Parents’ Association President, Rita has worked with The Interschool Program and Parents’ Association Heads representing many of the City’s finest schools.
